About the Role

The role will assist in the delivery and planning of all clinical, performance, and foodservice based nutrition services provided to players.  This includes education and counseling where appropriate. Based out of our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL this is a temporary-seasonal position starting in April and ending at the conclusion of 2026-27 Bears season, with a short break late June through mid-July.  The individual will work 40+ hours per week including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Expected schedule includes working 5-7 days a week from April through June. From July – December, 7 days a week with potential travel on weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage fueling stations for players (stocking, receiving, organization, inventory, supplementation, etc.)
  • Manage data tracking for supplements, smoothies, inventory, Notemeal, etc.
  • Assist in coordination of outside foodservice (catering, hotel, etc.) along with daily execution of meals. 
  • Assist with foodservice management with dining facility
  • Liaise with coaching staff, sports medicine, strength and conditioning staff, mental health to provide updates on nutrition concerns, priorities, and accomplishments made by players. 
  • Assist in planning and executing player education programs (grocery store, cooking demos, meal prep references, etc)
  • Assist in practice/game fueling and hydration strategies.
  • Support the planning and coordination of nutrition needs for gameday travel
  • Assist in counseling and executing small nutrition educations for players.
  • Assist in player testing and reporting (DEXA, hydration, etc.)
  • Research various nutritional products, practices, and supplements and present to sports performance team at completion of internship. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or Exercise Physiology is required
  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or Exercise Physiology is preferred 
  • Registered Dietitian is preferred (RDE is required)
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a collegiate or professional sports nutrition environment 
  • Experience in food service
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills: ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
  • Understanding of HIPPA and professional codes of conduct
  • Able to work nontraditional hours in nontraditional settings including holidays, evenings, and weekends.  
  • Able to establish a rapport with various individuals and build strong relationships with a variety of personalities.

COMPETITIVE INDUSTRY PAY 

The Sports Nutrition Seasonal is a full-time temporary position. This position is an HOURLY role with an expected hourly rate of $18/hour. Please note, due to job function, regular over-time (paid as time-and-a-half) is expected. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other job-related factors.
