Sports Dietitian
Job Responsibilities:
- Primary dietitian for Swim/Dive and Equestrian. RD will also assist with baseball.
- Assist with nutrition operations including ordering and fueling station management.
- Assists with assessing dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of athletes in the context of athletic performance and well-being.
- Assists with providing counsel to athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, travel, and supplementation.
- Assists with performing and analyzing body composition assessments of student-athletes.
- Assists with providing medical nutrition therapy, as needed, to help manage or treat medical conditions and/or eating concerns in collaboration with team physicians and medical personnel.
- Coordinates nutritional care as a member of the multidisciplinary sports medicine team.
- Evaluates nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy, monitors the use of appropriate supplementation.
- Assists in the development and adherence of nutrition policies and procedures.
- Assists with developing and delivering nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on various topics related to nutrition for performance.
- Recommends appropriate pre-, during, and post-exercise fluids and snacks for individual training, team practice, and competition.
- Serves as a nutrition resource for coaches, athletic trainers, support staff, food service personnel and parents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) regulations in the performance of job duties.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nutrition or a related field OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field
Licenses & Certifications:
- Registered Dietitian Required.
Candidates who have a Bachelor’s degree must have a Registered Dietitian license prior to January 1, 2024. Candidates who obtained their Registered Dietitian license after January 1, 2024 must have a Master’s degree.
