Football Nutrition Intern
Wake Forest University Athletics is currently seeking applicants for the role of Football Sports Nutrition Intern.
Position Summary:
This position is a temporary, part-time position that will assist the Football Nutrition Department in foodservice operations and logistics, pre- and post-practice nutrition. These individuals, under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director of Football Nutrition, will serve as a resource and liaison to execute date-to-day nutrition operations for football as well as assist in practice/lift and game day nutrition. See below for a list of duties and responsibilities.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
● Assist in all aspects of nutrition related to football team practices and strength and conditioning sessions (pre- and post-workout fueling and hydration)
● Assist the Sports Dietitian fellow in product inventory, ordering, receiving, distribution of goods for the football fueling station and the smoothie station; all game day inventory and packing needs
● Assist in creating menu signage and educational materials using Canva or PowerPoint
● Assist in active nutrition operations and fueling throughout the week by participating in team meals before practice and any nutritional and hydration needs for practice (pre-fuel, halftime fueling, refuel, as well as active fueling and hydration during every football practice and games)
● Primary responsibilities include: management and disbursement of product, pre-practice/lift preparation and set-up, practice intra-fueling and hydration, post-practice/lift refueling and clean up, home games with the possibility of travel/away games; education handouts as time permits
● Other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director of Football Nutrition
Required Professional Skills and Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree required with career goal of working in athletics
● Ability to work a non-standard work-week which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non-traditional work hours, and overnight travel as needed
● Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
● Ability to gain and maintain a working knowledge of rules and regulations of the Wake Forest University, ACC Conference, NCAA and United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regarding nutritional supplements, banned drugs and restricted substances
● Ability and willingness to comply with disclosure regulations relative to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
Preferred Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics with career goal of working as a sports dietitian
● Experience working with intercollegiate athletics preferred
● Working knowledge of ACC conference, NCAA, and USADA rules and regulations

Benefits:
