Sports Nutrition Fellow

Under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance Nutrition, the Sports Nutrition Fellow will assist in the day-to-day programming and execution of the University of Arkansas’ Sport Nutrition Department. The Sports Nutrition Fellow position will be a one year paid position with the possibility of a second-year contingent on performance evaluations and both parties’ approval. This position will oversee the nutritional needs of assigned teams.


Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

- Conducting individual and team nutrition education and counseling

- Coordinating pre and post training nutrition

- Assisting with competition and travel nutrition

- Serving as a nutrition and food resource for sport coaches


The position provides overall support for the Sports Nutrition Program by developing and designing educational materials as needed, conducting team presentations, cooking classes, grocery store tours, and dorm cafeteria tours. It involves working closely with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance Nutrition and the Sports Nutrition Center culinary team to deliver and monitor the services provided by the Sports Nutrition Center. Additionally, the role includes educating and mentoring undergraduate nutrition employees and volunteers in the area of sports nutrition.


Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a related area

  • RD or RD eligible in the state of Arkansas

  • At least one year working experience in collegiate athletics


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in nutrition, exercise science or other related field

  • Experience working within a collegiate setting including the knowledge of NCAA, SEC and institution rules as is relates to position


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sports nutrition principles and NCAA/SEC regulations

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with athletes, coaches, and staff

  • Organizational skills to manage multiple teams and responsibilities effectively

  • Ability to counsel student-athletes and deliver team education sessions

  • Ability to develop educational materials and coordinate nutrition-related events

$20.00 per hour
