THE ROLE

The Performance Dietitian Specialist will plan, deliver and evaluate performance nutrition services tailored to meet the current and evolving needs of CANSOFCOM Unit members. They will provide performance nutrition advice and coaching to CANSOFCOM Unit members based on evidence-based peer-reviewed literature. Additionally they will assess and analyze dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of CANSOFCOM Unit members in the context of athletic performance and health.

The Performance Dietitian Specialist will counsel CANSOFCOM Unit members on achieving and maintaining a level of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and performance. They will also provide personalized individual, group meal plans and performance enhancements to promote the achievement of goals for optimal performance and health.


QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Nutritional Science, Sports Nutrition, Applied Human Nutrition or in a related field AND some year of experience in dietetics, nutrition, nutritional sciences or sports nutrition

Registered with the Ontario College of Dietitians or with a provincial regulatory organization and a member of Dietitians of Canada

Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), an asset

Precision Nutrition Level 1 and 2 Certifications, an asset

NCSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification, an asset

International Olympic Committee (IOC), Diploma in Sport Nutrition, an asset

Experience

In working with elite athletes in a high performance environment
In planning, delivering and performing ongoing evaluation of performance nutrition/sport specific demands based services and programs
In addressing client non-evidence based nutrition beliefs/attitudes
In evaluating effectiveness of performance nutrition services
In assessing the impact of nutrition on performance and injury prevention
In planning and delivering training courses, workshops, presentations and specialized clinics
In performance nutrition coaching, education, training and meal planning
In facilitation techniques and strategies
In adult education principles and techniques
In managing projects
In risk management
In communication and marketing and budget administration
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations

English Essential, Bilingual (English and French) an asset
