Assistant Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition

The Assistant Athletic Director for Performance Nutrition oversees the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of a performance nutrition program for the institution’s NCAA Div. I (FBS) intercollegiate athletics program which sponsors 16 men’s and women’s sports.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, health/exercise science or nutrition-related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a sports or performance nutrition program
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with active status through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (www.cdrnet.org)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, athletic trainers, coaches and academic staff regarding on-going issues
  • Expertise and certification in current literature relating to sport nutrition for high-level athletes
  • Understanding and knowledge of nutritional and herbal supplements to determine if permissible under NCAA regulations
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules/regulations and a commitment to the Department’s culture of compliance
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Sports nutrition program experience in intercollegiate or professional athletics or sports-related field
  • Experience with a NCAA Division I (FBS) sports-related nutrition program
  • Ability to collect and analyze data for strategic decision-making related to performance nutrition
  • Experience in leadership of a sports-related nutrition program
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or Nutrition-related field
  • Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
  • Current CPR, AED and first aid certifications
