The Opportunity:

As the Performance Nutrition Dietitian and Director of Olympic Sports you will work within the WSU Athletics Department’s Performance Nutrition program supporting the nutrition wellbeing of WSU student-athletes, as well as overseeing Olympic Sport Nutrition programming and implementation for assigned teams.


Your primary duties will include: conducting individual student-athlete performance nutrition and/or medical nutrition therapy consultation, conducting team/group nutrition presentations, developing and implementing the latest research supported performance nutrition and medical nutrition therapy recommendations, conducting individual nutrition related field analysis (i.e. urine specific gravity tests), and overseeing teams’ fueling needs and services for home and away competitions. You will present on nutrition topics supporting optimal performance, healthy body image, and long-term wellbeing to student-athletes, coaches, sports medicine staff, and administration.


This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $4,800 - $5,200 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

Additional Requirements:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Licensed Dietitian within the state of WA within 3 months of hire

  • Ability to sit for the Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) exam within 6 months of hire.

  • A minimum of 2 years working experience in a Division I and/or professional performance nutrition program, in-patient and/or outpatient clinical setting, and/or academic setting.

  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of full-time experience working in a Division I and/or professional athletics environment as a registered dietitian.

  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)

  • Certified Eating Disorder Specialist

  • Experience working within and Electronic Medical/Health Records System.

  • Work experience that demonstrates strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Experience that demonstrates ability to work successfully with a diverse student population.

  • Work experience that demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
