Dietitian Intern

 

The 3-time WNBA Champions Los Angeles Sparks are seeking a Dietitian Intern for the 2025 WNBA season. This internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students and dietetic interns to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a WNBA Performance and Health team. Interns will participate in all areas of Sports Nutrition and the many facets of working for a professional sports team including nutrition counseling, meal planning and assisting with the team’s Registered Sports Dietitian and experienced Sports professionals. This intern position will report under the direction of our Director of Health and Performance. 

 

This is a non-paid internship and is for individuals who will receive college credit.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

·       Restock fueling table during practice and game days 

·       Assisting with food preparation – this includes making sandwiches, prepping fruits, assembling snack bags, etc. and ensuring food safety protocols are being followed

·       Make recovery shakes following recipes and food safety protocols (if applicable)

·       Coverage of pre and post fuel for spring training sessions 

·       Manage inventory, ordering, restocking and delivery management spreadsheet when needed to ensure a well-stocked and organized environment

·       Assist with data entry to gather list of restaurants and meal options for practice, game and travel days

·       Conduct evidence-based research on various nutrition related topics as directed by team dietitian

·       Grocery shopping for sports nutrition food items

·       Assist Sports Dietitian with discussions and player evaluations

 

QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

·       Must be enrolled in a college or university

·       Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree or are currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution

·       Must provide proof that you are eligible to receive college credit

·       Experience working in food service, athletics, and/or related fields

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition or related field 
  • RD eligible within 12 months
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are imperative
  • Capable of following oral and written instructions; emphasis on attention to detail
 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Reliable transportation; Some use of personal vehicle or alternative source of transportation

·       Ability to work flexible hours such as weekends, nights and holidays is a priority

 

EXPECTED AVAILABILITY:

·       Game Days, Practices - up to 8 hours a week 

·       Occasional Office Hours - up to 4 hours a week
