Director of Olypmic Sports
K-State Athletics is seeking qualified applicants for a DIRECTOR OF OLYMPIC SPORTS, which is a full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible position.
An example of job duties include but are not limited to:
- Plan, develop,
implement, track, evaluate
and manage nutrition
services provided to student-athletes
- Assess and analyze dietary
practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of
student-athletes as it relates to athletic performance and optimal health
- Implement an ongoing program
assessment to determine the effectiveness of the dietary nutrition program and
services provided and recommend innovative methods of advancement
- Must
have strong clinical skills in the areas of diabetes, hypertension, lipid
management, eating disorders, weight management, and other diagnoses, as well as sound knowledge of performance enhancement
principles and strategies
- Coordinate with athletic trainers,
sport psychologist, strength
and conditioning staff and team physicians to: (1) properly
advise student-athletes and coaching
staff regarding optimal nutrition needs for exercise training, competition,
recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, disordered
eating, travel and supplementation; (2) address nutritional challenges to
performance, bone mineral disturbances, gastrointestinal disturbances, iron
depletion and iron-deficiency anemia, etc.; (3) provide and maintain nutrition
(including away game support) and nutritional issues affecting student- athletes
- Work closely
with food service
staff to provide
sound nutritional meals specific to the goals of individual
student-athletes and teams
- Provide nutrition
education and outreach
to student-athletes, teams,
coaches, and staff
- Continually research
the latest innovations and developments in sports
nutrition field

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
in nutrition/dietetics or other related
field from an accredited university or college
- Must be a current
Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic
Registration
- Two to four years of experience working as a dietician in a
professional/collegiate setting
- Demonstrate strong
written and interpersonal skills with student-athletes, coaches and/or various
other people inside and outside of an athletic department
- Proficient with MS Office
Word, Excel, Access,
and Outlook programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
in nutrition or other related
field from an accredited
university or college
- Three or more years of experience providing nutrition/dietary services
for a professional sport or
NCAA Division I athletics program
- Board Certified
Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
- Experience in medical nutrition therapy, including eating
disorder counseling
- Knowledge of food service quality and safety
- Must be eligible for, successfully apply and receive
a State of Kansas
Dietitian License within one year of first day of employment
- Applicants must be currently
authorized to work in the United States
at the time of employment
